&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Tahoma"&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;This will be the&amp;nbsp;first VAF conference held in the Pacific Northwest in nearly&amp;nbsp;thirty&amp;nbsp;years and it will be well worth the trek.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;From paper and poster sessions in the historic Marcus Whitman Hotel to two days of tours through landscapes never before seen by most VAFers, this is a conference not to be missed.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <title>VAF Chesapeake Chapter 2026 Spring Tour (25 Apr 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;VAF Chesapeake Chapter Spring 2026 Tour - Shuttlewood, Saint Peter's Parish Church, and Hampstead, New Kent County, Virginia&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The next field visit of the Vernacular Architecture Forum Chesapeake Chapter will be to New Kent County, Virginia. We will visit three locations: Shuttlewood, Saint Peter's Parish Church, and Hampstead.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Registration will be limited to 50 persons and requires current VAF membership. VAF Members can register up to two guests. Sign up deadline - Fri. April 24. We look forward to seeing you there!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;10 AM – 11:30 AM&amp;nbsp; Shuttlewood, 8830 Saint Peters Lane, New Kent (about 30 minutes east of Richmond)&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Shuttlewood is an 1850s two-story, frame I-house with intact paint, hardware, and doors. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2022: &lt;a href="https://www.dhr.virginia.gov/historic-registers/063-0095/" target="_blank"&gt;https://www.dhr.virginia.gov/historic-registers/063-0095/&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;11:30 AM – 1:30 PM&amp;nbsp; Lunch and Saint Peter's Parish Church, 8400 Saint Peter's Lane, New Kent (5 minute drive from Shuttlewood)&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Saint Peter's is the second oldest extant church in Virginia (1701-03) and a National Historic Landmark, with excellent brickwork. &lt;a href="https://www.dhr.virginia.gov/historic-registers/063-0027/" target="_blank"&gt;https://www.dhr.virginia.gov/historic-registers/063-0027/&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Attendees should pack a lunch to be eaten here. Restrooms will be available.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;1:30 PM – 3:30 PM&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; Hampstead, 5101 Hampstead Lane, New Kent (20 minute drive from Saint Peter's)&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Hampstead is an elegant 1825 two-story brick house overlooking the Pamunkey River Valley. Listed in the National Register in 1970, it features a circular stair, fine woodwork and plasterwork, front and rear pedimented porticos, and imported stone finishes. A granary, cottage, and icehouse are on the property.&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://www.dhr.virginia.gov/historic-registers/063-0013/" target="_blank"&gt;https://www.dhr.virginia.gov/historic-registers/063-0013/&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description>
